Midwifery in the UK
Being a Registered Midwife in the UK will have many similarities to being a registrant in any part of the world. The factors that influenced you to become a midwife and have driven you as a professional are universal.
In the UK, unlike some countries, Midwifery is regarded as a separate profession to Nursing. The role of a Midwife in the UK is to provide skilled, knowledgeable, respectful, and compassionate care for all women, newborn infants and their families. As such, Midwives are accountable as the lead professional and have a unique relationship with all those they care for and support.
